Is it grief, or our resistance to it, that causes suffering? If we allowed grief to move though us in an authentic way, feeling the loss, abandonment, sadness, and everything it encompasses, that’s what we’d feel. Pain is inevitable. But resistance–pushing it away, numbing out–that adds something more: suffering. And suffering is optional.
