Knife Garden

Knife Garden photo by Teri Hannigan

2017

7:30AM I have no idea what possessed me. I grabbed a bunch of kitchen knives and ran outside to my vegetable garden to take a bunch of photos in the morning light. This is one of them.

Any meaning I would ascribe to this image would be after the fact. CP Estes says the word “wound” originally comes from a word meaning separate or separated from God. And it is through our wounds that we learn what it is to be separate from God. So, our wounds are our portal to connectedness with God. In this sense, this “knife garden” portrays our connection with everything that is.
